Personal puts a person's papers in order

A section of its own, with its own folder and matters, so JUDLEX can sort a person's papers without touching the firm's.

This JUDLEX release brings one more section, and new viewers.

Until now JUDLEX organised the papers of a firm's clients. Personal organises those of one person: the tenancy agreement, the car insurance, the bank statements, whatever the tax authority sends. Anything in your life that generates paperwork, such as a flat, a car or a complaint, becomes a matter. There are no clients and no case files.

Personal has its own menu and its own documents folder, so nothing mixes with the firm's work. It comes with the Professional licence at no extra cost, and two tabs appear under the logo: Personal and Professional.

You drop the papers in and JUDLEX sorts them

Papers come in through the window or through a folder that JUDLEX watches, Downloads by default. That folder picks up PDFs, emails and Word and Excel documents by itself; photos wait until you say whether to keep them. Once you click «Go ahead», the artificial intelligence of your provider, the one you pay for with your own key, sorts them into matters and folders. Each matter it creates can be undone: its papers go back to the Inbox.

If a paper arriving through the watched folder looks as though it belongs to one of the firm's clients, JUDLEX checks that on your computer, without artificial intelligence, and sets the paper aside. You decide whether to ignore it, keep it in Personal or send it to the Professional section, if your computer has one.

To read a paper, JUDLEX sends your provider its text, or an image of the page if it is scanned, and tells you first how many pages that is. To draft a letter or explain a report it does not send the text of your papers, but the data you have already checked and, where there is one, the sentence each item came from; a letter also carries your name and country.

Accounts, dates, letters and reports

From your bank statements JUDLEX works out what you have received and what you have spent, and an amount counts only when the paper carries the figure in a sentence that can be quoted. From your papers it picks out dates (payments falling due, appointments, expiries) and, once you confirm them, warns you seven days ahead. Those already past are listed apart, and you mark them as done or as not needed.

You can ask it for five kinds of letter: a claim to a company, a complaint, a request to a public authority, the text for a complaint form and an ordinary letter. The report colours each point red, amber or green: red and amber come from what one specific paper says, green means nothing pending is on record, and the program sets the colour, not the artificial intelligence.

JUDLEX does not calculate taxes. Nor does it draft appeals or written allegations: for those it explains what they usually say and recommends that a professional looks at them.

Every file opens the way you prefer

A paper may be a PDF, a photo, a saved email or a recording. The viewers and players come with JUDLEX in both sections, and there is nothing to buy. They cover images, PDFs, audio, video, emails, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and text; Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents need LibreOffice, which is free, and any other type opens in your computer's own program.

Clicking a PDF opens it inside JUDLEX; clicking a citation opens it at the page cited, beside a column of thumbnails. Images get zoom, a side-by-side comparison of two, and a slideshow. Audio and video get a waveform, speed control and looping between two points; video also steps frame by frame, and you can save a single frame as one more document in the matter.

In Settings → Viewers you choose, for each kind of file, whether it opens inside JUDLEX or in your computer's own program; for images, PDFs, audio and video there is also a simple viewer, the one built into the window. For anything the window cannot play, JUDLEX offers an optional download of 30 to 80 MB. Without it, that file opens in your computer's program.

JUDLEX plays sound and video but does not transcribe them. A recording comes in as a paper classified from its name and its basic details (type, size, when it arrived), which do go to the artificial intelligence as text. The sound and the video are never sent.

The chat says what has come into a matter

With Automatic steps switched on in the chat's options, the chat tells you how many papers have entered a matter and what it would take to work through them. Pulling out the text a document already holds runs by itself, and the sentence in which the chat tells you about it is written by your provider's artificial intelligence, which costs very little. Splitting, identifying and analysing use more, and wait for a button that says what will be sent, «Go ahead · uses your provider's AI · 120 pp.», with no price; a «Stop» button stays in view while it works.

It also does what you ask with a matter: creating, renaming and moving folders, moving papers, changing a paper's name, type or date. It does this without asking, because you asked, and shows you what changed. Deleting is different: it asks you to confirm first, with a list of what would go.

With the Professional licence, Personal is already on its tab. The first time you open it, it asks for your name and country, and for your region if you want to give one, and a short tutorial shows you the screen.
