Licence notices appear in Licence and plans, which you open from Licence in your account menu, and some of them in the bar at the top. Until the licence is active on this computer, JUDLEX still opens, and you can view, correct and export all your work: If the licence is not active.
If the notice is This computer needs to be authorised, it has an article of its own: "This computer needs to be authorised".
There is no active licence
The notice reads No active licence on this account, The subscription is not active, Your licence is not active or Your licence has expired.
The account has no subscription in force: it was never taken out, it was cancelled, or it has run out. You can buy or renew it in Licence and plans, or at judlex.com under My licences: Buying or renewing.
If you know the licence has been paid for and it does not appear, click Find my licence. It looks for the licence in your account and activates it on this computer.
All the seats are in use
The notice reads Your licence covers one computer, and another one is using it right now, or All … seats on your licence are taken, with the name of the computer holding the seat and how long it has had it.
Every computer that works with the licence takes up a seat, and none is free at the moment. You have three options:
Activate here anyway. The seat moves to this computer and the other one switches to read-only mode. Nothing is lost there: it can still view and export everything.
Free the seat on the other computer with Disconnect licence, then activate this one.
Buy more seats at judlex.com, under My licences.
If the notice says 0 seats are taken, the problem is not the seats: see JUDLEX needs updating.
An administrator has blocked this computer
The notice reads An administrator has blocked this computer or This computer is blocked.
This computer has been blocked, usually because it was lost or stolen. A blocked computer cannot be unblocked by the firm itself: if you think it is a mistake, write to us from Support (Getting help). Your work is still on the computer and can be viewed and exported.
This computer no longer holds a seat
The notice reads This computer no longer holds a seat on the licence.
Another computer took the seat, whoever manages the licence released it at judlex.com, or the number of seats went down. When you want to work here again, click Activate this computer. If no seat is free, see All the seats are in use.
Too many computer changes, or too many requests
These two notices look alike and the fix is the same: wait.
Too many requests in a row. Something was clicked many times in a short space of time. Wait a minute and try again.
This licence has already moved between computers too many times today. The seat has passed from one computer to another many times in a single day. No further move is allowed for a few hours. Computers that already hold their seat carry on working as normal.
Depending on your version of JUDLEX, the second notice can also appear after clicking many times in a row. Try again after a minute first; if it comes back, wait a few hours. If you need more computers working at the same time, what you need is more seats.
The licence server does not answer
The licence server is missing configuration, or The licence server is not configured. This is not a problem with your subscription or your connection. Carry on working: the permit the computer already holds is valid for a few days. Try again in a while and, if nothing changes, let us know from Support: Getting help.
No connection to the licence server. Check that the computer is online and try again. If it is online, try again in a moment: neither your licence nor your seats have been touched. In the meantime you keep working with the current permit.
JUDLEX needs updating
A Personal licence needs JUDLEX 0.7.0 or later. On an older version, the notice may say JUDLEX needs updating, but it can also look as if the seats were full (All 0 seats on your licence are taken) or show This computer no longer holds a seat on the licence every time the licence renews.
The fix is to update JUDLEX: Update now in the Notifications bell, or Update app in Your space. You can also download the installer from judlex.com and install it over the current one; nothing is lost. Activate here anyway does not solve it. Your licence and your work are fine.
The licence stored on this computer is not valid
The permit stored on the computer did not pass its check. You can open, view and export everything. In Licence and plans, click Activate this computer or Find my licence.
Releasing a seat that is not yours
When you release a seat from Computers on this licence, the notice may say That seat is not in your name on this computer, or It could not be done with a technical detail in brackets. Someone else in the firm holds that seat, or it was already free.
Whoever manages the licence can release it at judlex.com, under My licences.
