Licence, in your account menu, opens Licence and plans: the licence status, the computers using it, what you have subscribed to and the extensions.
The status
At the top it tells you whether the licence is active on this computer, how many computers it allows and when it renews, with the Rate, the Computers, the date it Expires, the days Remaining — in amber if fewer than thirty are left — and the Licence holder.
Activating the licence on this computer
If you have signed in to your JUDLEX account, your account’s licence activates on its own. If not, paste your licence reference into Activate with a key and click Activate. If you have already paid and it does not show up, Find my licence looks for it in your account and activates it on this computer.
Each computer that opens JUDLEX with the licence takes up a seat. If they are all taken, JUDLEX tells you which computer holds the seat and when it was last used, and lets you choose between Not now and Activate here anyway, which takes the seat from that computer.
Disconnect licence frees up this computer’s seat. It asks for confirmation. The computer switches to read-only mode and no case file is deleted.
Computers on the licence
Underneath is the list of computers using the licence: how many seats are taken and how many are free, and for each computer its name, whether it is active and when it last connected.
In each row’s menu:
Disconnect licence, only on the computer itself.
Claim its seat for this computer: takes the seat from that computer and gives it to this one. It asks for confirmation, showing the computer’s name.
If an option cannot be used, it says why. Disconnecting a colleague’s computer is done from your account on judlex.com: Computers and seats at judlex.com. A blocked computer is not unblocked by the firm: ask Support.
Offline
JUDLEX checks the licence with our server from time to time, and it can go a few days without a connection with no change. If it has been more than two days without connecting, a notice tells you how many hours are left before it switches to read-only mode. Connecting once is enough.
Your licence
With an active licence, the Your licence card shows what you have: the Plan, the Seats, the Billing — monthly or yearly — and the date it Renews on. There is nothing to buy again here: whatever you subscribe to under Extensions is added to this same subscription.
The number of seats is changed in your judlex.com account, under My licences: Computers and seats at judlex.com. To switch between monthly and yearly billing, write to the JUDLEX team with Go to Support: Getting help.
If the licence is not going to renew, the screen says so, with the date it ends. Cancelling or reactivating the renewal is done on judlex.com, with Reactivate at judlex.com.
Buying or renewing
If you have no licence, or the one you had has expired, the calculator appears where Your licence would be: how many people will work with JUDLEX and whether you pay monthly or yearly, with the total. Subscribe opens the order, with the invoice details filled in from your profile and a field for a discount code. You pay by card, inside JUDLEX or in your browser. Once you pay, the licence activates on its own on this computer.
To buy, you need to be signed in to your account. The licence is for JUDLEX; you pay for artificial intelligence separately, with your own key.
Personal and Professional
The licence card has a tab for each section, Personal and Professional, and the Your licence mark on the one that is yours. More info opens a short guide to both.
Moving to Professional. With a Personal licence, click Move to Professional. JUDLEX shows you the quote before charging anything, in Move to Professional?, and Go to payment charges it. What is charged today is the part left until renewal, and the renewal date does not change. Your Personal section stays as it was and the firm's section appears.
Moving to Personal. With a Professional licence, Move to Personal at renewal. Nothing is charged or refunded: Professional keeps working until renewal, and until then you can undo it with Stay on Professional. From renewal, the firm's data can be viewed and exported.
To change level you need to be signed in to your account. What changes in your data when you move from one to the other is in Personal and Professional.
Extensions
The Extensions card shows the extensions you can add to the licence, each with what it adds and its price: /month, or /seat per month when it is charged for each seat. Today you can subscribe to Correspondence and filings (Correspondence and filings); Extensions explains what each one is and which section it serves. Those not yet available say In preparation.
An extension has no billing schedule of its own. It goes in the same subscription as your licence, for the same seats and, like the licence, monthly or yearly; the screen explains this above the cards. That is why the Subscribe button carries the total for your licence with its unit, per month or per year, and underneath a line shows how that total is worked out from the price per seat and the seats on your licence. The total comes from our server; the screen only shows where it comes from. With no connection to the server, no total is shown.
Next to the Extensions heading you can see how much the ones you have subscribed to add to your licence, and each subscribed extension says whether it is active on this computer. Without an active licence, the card says You need an active licence and you cannot subscribe.
To subscribe to an extension or cancel it, you need to be signed in to your account. You subscribe with Subscribe and cancel with Cancel it.
Cancelling Comunicaciones asks for confirmation first, in Cancel Communications?, and says what happens to what the firm has set up. Once the extension is no longer active, new email stops coming in; the email accounts stay stored, with their passwords, and if you take it out again you do not have to connect them again; and the register stays as it was, up to the last email that came in, and can still be read and exported in full: Without the extension.
Subscribing to and cancelling an extension
When you click Subscribe, before you pay anything, Subscribe to “…” opens with what is Charged today, including taxes: it is the part left until your licence renews, and it also says how much the renewal will be afterwards. Pay … charges it there and then to your licence's card. If your bank declines it, nothing is added and everything stays as it was. If the bank asks you to confirm the charge, the extension does not switch on until you do: Waiting for your bank waits for it and, if needed, offers Open the invoice so you can pay it in your browser.
If what is left until renewal is less than the minimum that can be charged to a card, nothing is charged today: the extension starts at renewal and is charged in full then. The button then says Subscribe from renewal, and the card says Subscribed: starts on …, with its date. Until that day it is not offered again.
Cancel it does not refund what was paid: the extension keeps working until the end of the paid period, and the renewal no longer charges it. The card says Cancelled: works until … and offers Keep it, which keeps the extension without charging again for what is already paid.
An extension that is downloaded, already paid for but not yet on this computer — the firm's second computer, for example — is fetched with Download on this computer, which charges nothing. Comunicaciones is not downloaded: it comes inside JUDLEX.
If the licence is not active
With no licence, or with an expired licence, JUDLEX switches to read-only mode. It does not close and nothing is lost:
You can open, consult, correct, delete and export everything.
You cannot create clients, case files, parties or facts, add or process documents, or use artificial intelligence, even with your own key.
When you activate the licence, everything works again just as it was.
