JUDLEX

Updates and downloads

What to do if JUDLEX cannot check for or install an update, and how to install the new version by hand without losing anything.

JUDLEX tells you about a new version in the Notifications bell at the top right, and installs it when you click Update now. You can also update from Your space with Update app: Your space. Updating needs neither an account nor a current licence.

"Couldn't check for updates"

JUDLEX could not ask whether there is a new version. Usually the connection was missing at that moment.

Check that the computer is online and click Retry in the same bell.

"Couldn't install the update"

The download or the installation did not complete. Click Retry.

If it fails again, install the new version by hand:

  1. Download the installer

From judlex.com, the one for your system.

  2. Install it over the current copy

Open it and follow the steps, without uninstalling the version you have first.

  3. Open JUDLEX

It opens with everything you had: clients, matters, case files, documents and this computer's licence.

Installing over the top deletes nothing, because your data does not live inside the program. More on installing in Install and open JUDLEX.

It says you are up to date, but you expect a new version

JUDLEX checks for new versions by itself. If you know a version has come out and your copy still says You're up to date, there is no need to wait: download the installer from judlex.com and install it over the top, as in the steps above.

"The firm's database could not be opened"

If this notice appears while checking for updates, JUDLEX could not open its own data at that moment. Quit JUDLEX completely and open it again. Closing the window only sends it to the tray; to quit, use Quit in the menu of its tray icon. If it happens again, write to us from Support: Getting help.
