JUDLEX

My own provider does not work

What to do if an AI provider you added will not save, does not list its models, fails the vision test or stops answering.

Your own provider is an artificial intelligence service you add with Add provider → Custom…: Add an AI provider that is not on the list. Because JUDLEX does not know it in advance, more things can go wrong. Here are the notices, in the words they appear in.

When finding its models

  • No API answers at that address. The address is not the service's API but its website or something else. Copy it from the service's documentation, from the API or "OpenAI compatible" section: it usually ends in /v1, like https://integrate.api.nvidia.com/v1. There are examples in What to type in "Its API address".

  • That address is not valid. It has to be a complete web address, with no spaces and nothing after the path (no ? or #).

  • http:// is only allowed for servers on your computer or the office network. Over the internet your documents would travel unencrypted. Use the service's https:// address. If the server is in the office, type its internal network address (such as 192.168.1.20) rather than a public name.

  • The address has a username or password in it. Remove them from the address and put the key in its own field.

  • A notice that mentions the key (401 or 403). The key is wrong, the account has no credit, or the service expects it in another header: check it, and if its documentation says it goes in a header such as x-api-key, type it in More options → Key header.

  • It could not connect. Check that the server is switched on and that the address is right.

Its models do not appear

It did not give its model list. Some services do not publish the list, or protect it. Type the exact name of the model, as given in the service's documentation, in Not there? Type its name, and click Add.

It fails the vision test

It did not read it correctly: it showed … and it read “…”. This model cannot be added. The model does not read images well, and JUDLEX only uses models that read the pages, because scanned documents are read by looking at them. There is no way to skip the test: choose another model from the service, usually one whose name says it sees images (vision, VL or omni). The ones that pass the test are saved anyway; the one that does not is left out.

If the model returns nothing, or an error, the cause is usually the key, the model name or a server that takes too long. What it returned appears below the model.

When using it

  • Before using a provider you added yourself you need to accept its notice. The notice changed in a new version of JUDLEX, or was never accepted. Open Settings → Connections, click Edit in the provider card's menu and accept it.

  • To point to a different server, remove this provider and add it again. The key, the notice and the vision test were for the previous server.

  • It is the provider in use. Choose another one with “Use this” and then remove it.

  • A service that redirects to another address. For safety, JUDLEX does not follow redirects with your own provider: if the service answers that the address has changed, remove it and add it with the new address.

"Without an amount" in the history

It is not a fault: the model has no rate and JUDLEX does not know what it costs. Give it a price with Edit: The price.

If none of this explains it

Write to the JUDLEX team from Support: Getting help. Say which service it is, the address you entered, and copy the notice exactly as it appears. Do not send the key or any client data.
