JUDLEX can be used in two ways, and each is a section with its own space inside the same application. Personal is for your own papers: those of your home, your car, your job, your taxes. Professional is for a firm: its clients, the paperwork of each matter and the case files built from it.
A Professional licence includes the Personal section at no extra cost. Personal can also be taken on its own.
Which one is yours
If you want to sort your own papers, Personal is what you need.
If you work in a law firm, a gestoría (an administrative advisory practice) or a procuraduría (court representation), Professional is the firm's licence, and inside it you also have your own Personal section for the papers you keep at home.
If you later move from one to the other, you lose nothing. This is explained below.
What each one is
Personal | Professional | |
|---|---|---|
Who it is for | One person and their papers | A law firm or an advisory practice |
What you work with | Matters: each thing in your life that produces papers (a flat, a car, a complaint). There are no clients and no case files | Clients, their matters and the case files built on top of them |
Seats | One, for a single person | As many as the firm takes |
What is included | Sorting your papers, your accounts, your dates, letters of the everyday kind and reports | Sorting the clients' paperwork, case files with annexes and foliation, conflict-of-interest warnings, export of the case file |
With extensions | Those that make sense for one person | The firm's |
Personal: how it works
You drop in your papers. Drop them anywhere in the window, paste a screenshot, or let the Downloads folder pick them up by itself.
JUDLEX sorts them. The artificial intelligence creates the matters and folders for you, such as "Beach flat 2016", and files each paper where it belongs, with the quotation the name comes from. Anything it cannot place stays in the Inbox.
You check and decide. Everything it creates is marked and can be undone without deleting anything. What it proposes shows in amber until you accept it.
Once your papers are in order, Personal shows you your accounts, warns you of the dates your papers mention, helps you write claims, complaints and requests and prepares a report on where you stand. It is all explained in the Personal section.
Professional: how it works
The client is registered. The person or company the firm works for.
Their paperwork goes into a matter. Everything the client brings, as it arrives, mixed together.
The case file is built on top. JUDLEX splits the paperwork into its real documents, numbers them as annexes, foliates them and reads them, and every piece of information it proposes carries its quotation.
These are covered in Clients, matters and case files and Case files.
The base of Professional sorts the paperwork and creates matters and case files. Anything with a date, anything to do with email, and procedural filings come with the Correspondence and filings extension.
Why they are kept apart
The papers of your home are not those of your clients, and they should not be mixed. So each section keeps its own material in its own space and its own document folder, and nothing from one appears in the other. Two things follow:
Nothing crosses by accident. A personal paper does not end up in a client's case file, and a client's name does not appear in Personal. If a paper that looks like a client's lands in your Downloads folder, JUDLEX sets it aside and asks you; it does this on your computer and without artificial intelligence.
Each can be left alone. If the firm stops paying for Professional, the firm's work can still be read and exported, and your personal papers stay exactly as they were.
Each section also has its own optional lock, its own artificial-intelligence spending counted separately and its own alerts: a dot on the tab of the other section tells you something new is waiting there.
Switching section
If you have both, the switch sits under the application name in the side menu: Personal and Professional. In the help button ("?") in the top bar, the What Personal and Professional are entry opens a short guide to both, on the tab of the section you are in. Switching section reloads the window, so JUDLEX will not let you do it while a long job is running; wait for it to finish.
With a Personal licence on its own, JUDLEX opens straight into Personal and there is no switch.
Moving from one to the other
You do it from Licence and plans, in your account menu: the card has one tab for each section and a mark on the one that is yours.
From Personal to Professional. JUDLEX shows you first what is charged today: the proportional part of the full Professional price up to the renewal, without deducting what you already paid for Personal. The renewal date does not change. Your Personal section stays as it was and the firm's section appears. The change takes effect once the payment is made.
From Professional to Personal. Nothing is charged and nothing is refunded: Professional keeps working until the renewal. Until then you can cancel the change with Stay on Professional. From the renewal, the firm's work becomes read-only, so it can be consulted and exported, and Personal is charged. The firm's extensions are cancelled and keep working until that date. If you go back to Professional, you find it as you left it.
To change level you need to have signed in to your account. For everyday use you do not: the licence is enough.
Extensions
Both sections can be expanded with extensions, which are taken on the same licence and follow its payment rhythm. Which ones exist and what each adds is in Extensions.
Where to go next
If you will use Professional: Clients, matters and case files.
For prices and extensions: The licence.
