Computers and seats at judlex.com

My licences at judlex.com: your licence number, how many seats you have, which computer holds each one, and how to activate, free up or cancel them.

Every computer with JUDLEX activated takes up one seat on the licence. From JUDLEX you can see which computers use it, free up the seat of the computer you are on, or claim another computer's seat: Computers on the licence.

My licences, at judlex.com, does the rest without touching the computer: changing the number of seats, freeing the seat of a lost laptop or of someone who has left the firm, and cancelling a seat or the whole licence.

Your licence number

At the top is your Licence number, with its status, active or expired, and Copy. It is your licence reference: give it to support if you ask for help.

If you do not have a licence yet, the page says There is no licence in your name yet: Buying the licence.

How many seats

Below the number, how many seats you have bought, how many are in use and how many are free.

  • One more seat opens Add seats? with what you pay today for the time left until renewal, and Go to pay opens the payment page. The seats are added as soon as the payment goes through, and the seats you already had keep their price. If what is left until renewal is below the minimum that can be charged, nothing is charged today and the new seats arrive at renewal.

  • One seat fewer opens Reduce seats?, and Schedule reduction sets it for renewal. Until then you keep the seats you have already paid for, and nothing is refunded. Meanwhile a Seat reduction scheduled notice appears, with Keep the current seats to undo it.

A Personal licence has a single seat. How each change is paid for: Payments and invoices.

Your computers

The Machines list has one computer per row: its name, when it took the seat, its Connection and when it was Last seen. The connection shows one of four states:

  • connected: it is sending signals and can work right now.

  • no signal: it holds a seat but has not sent a signal for a while. If that computer is no longer in use, deactivate it and the seat becomes free for another.

  • no seat: it does not hold any of your seats.

  • blocked: an administrator has shut it off. It holds no seat and cannot work. If you do not know why, contact support: Getting help.

Depending on its state, each row offers:

  • Deactivate frees the seat now. It asks for confirmation, naming the computer. That computer can no longer work with JUDLEX and switches to read-only mode, but nothing is deleted: the case files stay where they are, and you can activate it again whenever you like.

  • Activate, on a computer with no seat, reserves one for it without touching that computer. If none is free, Evict the other machine? tells you which computer would lose its seat, and only Evict and activate goes ahead. Nobody loses a seat without being asked.

  • Cancel schedules that seat's cancellation at the end of the period. Cancel this seat? says until when it stays available; tick the box to confirm you understand and click Cancel seat.

If a seat has moved between computers many times in one day, judlex.com will not accept another move for a few hours. Computers that already hold a seat carry on working.

When a computer asks to use the licence without signing in to the account, the request appears above the list: Authorising a computer.

Personal or Professional

The Your licence card shows your level and offers the change, when the other level is on sale:

  • Move to Professional: Move to Professional? shows what you pay today, up to renewal, and Go to pay opens the payment page. The licence becomes Professional as soon as the payment goes through, and your Personal section stays as it is.

  • Move to Personal: under Which machine keeps it, choose the computer that will keep the single seat. You stay on Professional until renewal and nothing is refunded; from then on, the firm's data stays in the app to view and export, and the firm's extensions are cancelled. Until that day, Stay on Professional undoes it.

What changes in your data: Personal and Professional.

Cancelling the licence

At the bottom of the page, Cancel licence opens Cancel the JUDLEX licence?, which tells you the date until which JUDLEX stays available and which extensions are cancelled with it. You can say why you are leaving, if you wish. Tick the box to confirm you understand and click Cancel licence.

Nothing is refunded, and JUDLEX keeps working until the end of the period you have paid for. After that it switches to read-only mode, and nothing is lost: If the licence is not active. In the meantime a notice says Your licence cancellation is scheduled, and Keep using JUDLEX undoes it.

Who can do what

  • A licence in your own name: you can do everything.

  • An organisation's licence, when your account belongs to a firm's organisation: only the organisation's owner can change the seats, the level and the extensions. Computers and cancelling the licence are handled by the owner and the managers. Anyone who cannot make a change sees a You cannot change this licence notice, saying who can.

If JUDLEX says no seat is free on a Personal licence

With a Personal licence, an older version of JUDLEX may reply, when activating, that all the seats are taken, or say JUDLEX needs updating. Either way, the fix is to update JUDLEX from Your space: The version and updates. There is no need to take the seat from any computer.
