Settings → Connections brings together the firm's artificial intelligence providers, with their keys, and shows which one is in use.
How to get a key and add it, step by step, is explained in Add your artificial intelligence key. Here is a summary of the screen.
The firm's list of providers
The screen shows the providers the firm has added to its list, not every one there is. A newly installed firm starts with Anthropic, and you add more with the Add provider selector:
At the top, the catalogue providers that are not on your list yet: Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, xAI, DeepSeek and MiniMax. JUDLEX prepares them, with their models and their prices.
At the very bottom, Custom…, to add a service that is not in the catalogue or a server of the firm's own: Add an AI provider that is not on the list.
If the licence can use JUDLEX AI, its card comes first, with the button to switch it on, the credit balance and Top up credits. It is explained in JUDLEX AI.
At the very top, Your AI keys shows how many providers have their key in place. Below it, one card per provider on the list with:
Model: which model that provider works with. If it is the provider in use, the change takes effect immediately.
Use this one: makes it the firm's provider. The active one says In use.
Test: checks that the key and the model work. With most providers this costs nothing. Providers that do not publish their list of models have to be checked by calling the model, which costs a fraction of a cent, and the screen says so before you click.
API key: the field to paste it into, and Save. A saved key is shown masked, with a bin icon to delete it. The bin deletes it as soon as you click, without asking.
The provider's name followed by prices, for example Anthropic prices: opens the provider's pricing page in your browser. That page is the one that counts.

The three-dot menu, with Remove from the list. Removing a provider also deletes its key. The one in use cannot be removed: first choose another with Use this one.
The cards of the providers you add yourself are labelled your own, or your own · local if the server is on your computer or your network, and no rate if a model has no price. Their menu also has Edit and Test vision again.
The provider and model in use are the same for everything: reading, splitting, classifying, analysing and the consultation panel. Changing them from the consultation panel changes them here as well: Panel options.
How much the model reasons
When you open the Model drop-down, Reasoning appears at the bottom: a row of dots that sets how much the model thinks before it answers, from No reasoning or Minimal up to Maximum, depending on what each model allows. More reasoning tends to give better judgement, but it is slower and uses more, because the provider bills that reasoning as output text. On Claude, Maximum has no ceiling and can use a good deal more than usual.
The level is kept for each model, whether or not it is in use. Models that do not let you choose say Not adjustable.
Calls at once
Calls at once sets how many calls JUDLEX makes at once to the same provider, from 1 to 6 (3 by default): splitting several documents at once, looking at several scanned pages, or sharing a question among several of the chat's helpers. More is faster. If the provider slows down because too many arrive, JUDLEX backs off by itself, waits as long as it asks and goes back up. With 1, everything goes one after another, as before.
How the AI is billed
Once a key is in place, JUDLEX shows How the AI is billed once and asks you to click Got it; in the assistant it comes as one of the steps. It explains that the provider charges for the artificial intelligence, at its own prices and on its own invoice; that JUDLEX charges nothing for it and takes no percentage; that JUDLEX is not responsible for what the provider charges; and that it is wise to set a spending limit on your provider account. It links to each provider's pricing page.
Until it has been accepted, JUDLEX does not call any provider. If the wording of the notice changes, you are asked again. You can read it again at any time from History.
What is sent
What goes to the provider are fragments of the case file, never the files themselves. With automatic steps switched on, when papers come in the chat tells you what it sees and what it is doing, and that uses your key. Anything that uses more artificial intelligence (splitting, identifying, analysing) waits until you say Go ahead, and you are told beforehand how much will be sent.
Firm email
If email accounts are connected through the Correspondence and filings extension, the Firm email block appears at the bottom, showing how many are connected or how many need checking, with the Email accounts button: Connect an email account.
