JUDLEX

Connect Dropbox

What you will see when you connect JUDLEX to your Dropbox, why Dropbox shows it as access to your whole Dropbox, and how to withdraw it.

What you need

A Dropbox account and an internet connection.

Step by step

  1. Choose Dropbox

In Settings → Data, click Add a connection and choose Dropbox. If you like, give it a name in Connection name.

  2. Open the browser

Click Open the browser. Your browser opens on a Dropbox page. JUDLEX never sees your account password.

  3. Give permission

Sign in to your account if needed and click Allow.

  4. Go back to JUDLEX

The browser tells you that you can go back. JUDLEX creates its folder, tests the connection and adds it to the list.

Why Dropbox says "your whole Dropbox"

Dropbox tells you that JUDLEX is asking for access to your entire Dropbox. This is because the firm folder (the one colleagues use to receive what they share with each other) can be a Dropbox shared folder, and an app limited to its own folder would not be able to see it.

JUDLEX only works in two places: its JUDLEX folder and, if you set one up, the firm folder. It does not read anything else.

Sharing with Dropbox

Dropbox is the most convenient service for sharing between colleagues: with the firm folder, shared items appear straight away on the other computer, with no waiting. You can also share by link. See Share a matter or a case file with a colleague.

The JUDLEX folder

JUDLEX keeps its backups in the JUDLEX folder in your Dropbox: encrypted and with names that give nothing away, or unencrypted and with names you can read, depending on what you chose when you turned on the backup. Do not delete it, move it or rename it.

Withdrawing the permission

On the Dropbox website: your avatar (bottom left) → Settings → Apps → JUDLEX → Disconnect.

The folder and the files stay in your Dropbox. For JUDLEX to use it again, go to Settings → Data and click Reconnect in the connection's menu.
